Matthew grew up in Rocky Mountain House, and later attended Red Deer College, where he began his undergraduate studies. Matthew went on to obtain his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary before attending law school and earning his Juris Doctor degree from the University of British Columbia.
During law school, Matthew volunteered with the Law Student’s Legal Advice Program (LSLAP), offering legal assistance to low-income individuals and gaining practical experience across a range of legal issues. Matthew also completed an experiential semester at the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic, where he provided legal services to members of the Indigenous community in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Outside the office, Matthew enjoys spending time outdoors and can often be found fly fishing, hunting, or backcountry camping throughout Alberta.
